Tour Tapas with Charlie

Sign in front of a spanish resturant

Hi! I'm Charlie and I have an obsession with food. There I said it (not like it was a big secret or anything).

I'm from Toronto, Ontario and my friends would call me a foodie. They all come to me for advice on where they should go to get the best (insert desired food here). I've probably tried every different type of food you can in Toronto.

The travel bug hit me hard so I decided it was time to go on a trip. But I didn't want just any trip I wanted something that would be different and full of new experiences.

I found love food. will travel during my search for the perfect trip and as soon as I saw the trips were based food I was sold. Let me tell you about my time in Spain.

My Story

I learned really quickly that people in spain love food, like really love food and that means that I love Spain.

Spain’s obsession with olives and meat are something else. If you're a vegan you’re going to have a challenge finding somewhere to eat. In a conversation with one of the locals I had there, we talked about vegans and what exactly they were, they laughed and asked why would anyone not want to eat meat! It can be so good!

Group members at the bar

This was shown by how when sometimes you would walk into a bar you would see an entire cured pork leg just sitting there that they would cut the meat off to use in the tapas they would make.

It was amazing to be there, in a world that is so different from my world. I've been to Tapa bars around Toronto they said they where authentic Spanish food but the real thing in Spain was amazing. The people were amazing and the food was even better. I didn't want to come home!

But wait! They just don't have Tapas oh no. They have other amazing foods and drinks. I tried as many as I could.

My favorite drink was a Tinto. A Tinto is red wine mixed with lemon Fanta with fresh lemon, lime and orange slices mixed in. It was a perfect thirst quencher.

My favorite food besides all of the different Tapas was Tortillas, and Patatas Brava’s. Let's start with the Tortillas, they are thick and filled with incredibly delicious caramelized onions, they're so big and full of caramelized onions you have to eat them with a fork and knife and try to stop yourself from licking the plate clean (I may have used my finger to clean up the extra onions shhh don't tell).

Next was the star of the show Patatas Brava's - now how can potatoes be so tasty you ask? By drenching them in this sauce that was spicy but creamy like mayonnaise - just the right amount of spice and cream. They were so good I think I gained about 20 pounds from eating them.

Patatas Brava's the main course

I can't even write anymore for fear of ordering another ticket to Spain and disappearing forever (ha-ha) so let me end with this:

Anyone considering going on the Tour Taps trip DO IT. You wont regret it and you'll have the time of your life. The group I was with was amazing and I made some life long friends. We're currently planning on going on another trip with love food. will travel.

Spain I love you!
